Meet Dr. Stringert

Biographical/Curriculum Vitae for Dr. Howard Stringert

Dr. Stringert is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Allegheny College, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, in June, 1977 with a B.S. degree in mathematics.

Dr. Stringert attended Creighton Dental School, and graduated with a D.D.S. degree in June, 1981. He followed this with a Hospital Dental Residency, at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia, receiving a certificate for this residency in June, 1982.

Dr. Stringert completed a two year residency in orthodontics from the University of Minnesota in June, 1984. In addition to his certification for orthodontics, he earned a M.S. degree in Dental Science at the same time. His Master’s Thesis focused on the possible correlations of facial skeletal growth patterns with temporomandibular ("craniomandibular") joint problems. A portion of this thesis was published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in April, 1986. This work has also been cited in several other publications.

During his university orthodontic training, Dr. Stringert attended and participated with the Dentofacial Deformities team at the University of Minnesota. This team dealt with cleft lip and cleft palate patients, as well as patients with congenital defects and genetic syndromes. Dr. Stringert has continued to provide his expertise in this area throughout his tenure in private practice, and has been a member of the Pueblo City-County Health Clinic’s Cleft Lip/Palate and Dentofacial Deformities Team since its inception.

In addition to his involvement with the Cleft Lip/Palate and Dentofacial Deformities Team, Dr. Stringert is a member of the Southeastern Colorado Dental Society, the Colorado Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Colorado Orthodontic Association, the Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists. He has been a Trustee to the Colorado Dental Association, and is an active participant in his local dental society.

Dr. Stringert has been in private practice in Pueblo, Colorado since December, 1985.

In addition to family and professional interests, Dr. Stringert is an avid sports enthusiast. He participates in endurance sports, including running, swimming, and bicycling, and enjoys family outings with water-skiing, downhill and cross-country skiing, and an occasional game of tennis. He and his family enjoy Alpine hikes in the Colorado high country, as well as hikes in the rimrock country of southeastern Colorado. In recent years, he has completed Colorado’s notorious bicycling tour, from Evergreen, Colorado to Vail, Colorado (known as "The Triple Bypass Bicycle Tour"), and he has completed the Mt. Evans Bicycling Hillclimb, from Idaho Springs to the peak of Mt. Evans. He challenges anyone to sports trivia, especially baseball trivia involving the Pittsburgh Pirates, 1960-1973. Try a Roberto Clemente question on him, if you dare!
